Overview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 243 (LINC00243) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located on chromosome 6 that does not encode a protein but functions in gene regulation. LINC00243 is upregulated in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), where it promotes cell proliferation and glycolysis by acting as a molecular sponge for miR-507, leading to the upregulation of PDK4. High expression of LINC00243 is associated with poor prognosis in NSCLC, suggesting potential utility as a prognostic biomarker. There is currently no evidence that LINC00243 is a traditional therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter[1][2][5][9].
