Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2469 (LINC02469) is a human gene that encodes a long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA), which is defined as a non-protein coding RNA transcript longer than 200 nucleotides that does not overlap with any annotated protein-coding gene. LincRNAs, including LINC02469, play roles in transcriptional regulation, chromatin remodeling, stabilization of RNA, and can act as enhancers to regulate the expression of neighboring genes. They are usually transcribed by RNA polymerase II and processed similarly to mRNAs, though they often exhibit less robust splicing and more frequent premature termination. While the lincRNA family as a whole has been implicated in gene regulation and various diseases—including cancer—specific biological roles and clinical significance for LINC02469 itself have not been comprehensively established based on current literature. LINC02469 is not known to be a therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, and there are no identified drugs or direct biomarkers associated with it. More functional characterization is needed for disease and therapeutic relevance.
