Overview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2474 (LINC02474) is a cytoplasm-enriched, non-coding RNA molecule identified as upregulated in colorectal cancer tissues and cell lines. Acting as an oncogene, LINC02474 promotes metastatic ability and inhibits apoptosis in colorectal cancer cells primarily through transcriptional repression of the granzyme B gene (GZMB), a key mediator of apoptotic cell death. Due to its elevated expression in cancer and its regulatory effect on important oncogenic pathways, it is being studied as a prognostic biomarker and possible therapeutic target in gastrointestinal malignancies. It does not encode proteins and currently has no approved pharmacological modulators.
