Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2499 (LINC02499) is a human long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) gene located at chromosome 4q13.3. LINC02499 does not code for a protein and belongs to the class of long non-coding RNAs, which are typically >200 nucleotides and act primarily through regulation of gene expression. Biologically, LINC02499 functions as a molecular sponge for the microRNA miR-329-5p, modulating the expression of CYP3A5, a key drug-metabolizing enzyme in liver cells. LINC02499 is expressed in the liver and has been implicated in the suppression of hepatocellular carcinoma progression, making it of interest as a putative biomarker for diagnosis and prognosis in liver cancer. There are no approved drugs reported to directly target or interact with LINC02499, and its role is better described as a regulator of gene expression than as a traditional therapeutic target like receptors or enzymes.
