Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2500 (LINC02500)

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2500 (LINC02500) is a human long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) gene. The primary feature of this molecule is that it does not encode a protein, but may have regulatory functions related to gene expression and chromatin architecture, which are general functions documented for lincRNAs[5]. LINC02500 is located at 4q34.3 and has been identified as a region recurrently deleted in several cancer types, especially in cervical and endometrial cancers, suggesting a putative tumor suppressor role[4]. While the biological function of LINC02500 is currently not well characterized, recent research highlights its possible involvement in cancer pathogenesis. There is no evidence of drug interaction, approved therapeutic targeting, or detailed mechanism of action at present. It is not considered a therapeutic target (receptor, enzyme, transporter, etc.) in current biomedical literature[4][1].
