Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2526 (LINC02526) is a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) class, which encompasses RNAs longer than 200 nucleotides that do not encode proteins and are not overlapping annotated protein-coding genes. LINC02526 is annotated in the human genome but lacks detailed characterization in terms of biological function, disease association, or therapeutic potential. In general, lincRNAs serve regulatory roles in gene expression, chromatin remodeling, and genome organization, though functional evidence for most individual lincRNAs, including LINC02526, is currently sparse. LincRNAs are known to fine-tune the expression of neighboring genes, influence chromatin state, and regulate transcription in a tissue-specific manner. Some well-studied lincRNAs can participate in disease and act as biomarkers, but most, including LINC02526, remain poorly characterized in terms of molecular biology or clinical relevance. There are thousands of annotated lincRNAs, and only a minority have documented biological or disease functions.
