Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2536 (LINC02536) is a long non-coding RNA gene that does not code for a protein, but rather functions as a regulatory RNA molecule. LINC02536 belongs to the lincRNA subclass, which is distinguished by autonomous transcription and lack of overlap with annotated coding genes. LincRNAs regulate chromatin structure, gene expression, and cellular architecture in both *cis* (affecting neighboring genes) and *trans* (affecting distant genes or genomic regions), using mechanisms such as chromatin looping, enhancer-like activity, and modulation of transcription factors. While hundreds of lincRNAs have been functionally characterized, the precise biological role of LINC02536 itself remains undefined in the published literature. LincRNAs have been shown to be involved in processes ranging from X chromosome inactivation, cell cycle progression, metabolic regulation, and disease development (including cancer), but no direct experimental data currently links LINC02536 itself to a defined biological function or disease role[1][3][5]. As such, LINC02536 is not considered a classical therapeutic target, receptor, enzyme, or drug target.
