Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 254 (LINC00254) is a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) family. It does not encode a protein product and produces RNA transcripts longer than 200 nucleotides, which are transcribed from intergenic regions of the genome—regions that do not overlap annotated protein-coding loci[1][3][5]. LINC00254 is thought to have regulatory roles, including the fine-tuning of neighboring gene expression, chromatin remodeling, and possibly acting as a scaffold for chromatin-modifying complexes[5][7].
