Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2540 (LINC02540) is a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) family, which are RNA molecules longer than 200 nucleotides that do not overlap with protein-coding genes and lack protein-coding potential[1][5][9]. Like other lincRNAs, LINC02540 is believed to be involved in the regulation of gene expression through a variety of mechanisms, including chromatin modification, interaction with transcription factors, modulation of mRNA processing, and serving as a molecular scaffold or sponge for proteins and RNAs[3][9].
