Overview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2541 (LINC02541) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located on chromosome 6 (chr6:113623535-113650074, negative strand) and consists of three exons[4]. It is classified as an intergenic lncRNA (lincRNA), meaning it does not overlap with protein-coding genes[3][4]. The transcript is non-coding by all major coding potential prediction metrics[4]. LINC02541 is expressed predominantly in keratinocytes and is downregulated upon interferon gamma (IFN-γ) stimulation, as well as in several inflammatory skin diseases such as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, and Netherton syndrome, where its expression is negatively correlated with upregulation of the STAT3 gene[2]. Its likely function is regulatory, possibly influencing inflammatory signaling within the skin, but there is no direct evidence that it is currently a therapeutic target, nor are there known drugs or biomarkers associated with it[2][4].
