Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2551 (LINC02551) is a human long non-coding RNA gene located on chromosome 11 (locus 11:130,807,889-130,865,561) and is annotated by Entrez Gene ID 100507431 and HGNC:53586[3][5][9]. LINC02551, also known as RP11-890B15.2, belongs to the class of long non-coding RNAs, which are transcripts longer than 200 nucleotides that do not encode functional proteins[7]. Recent findings suggest that LINC02551 can be transcriptionally activated by TGF-β and, unusually for an lncRNA, encodes a functional micropeptide, named JunBP, which promotes hepatocellular carcinoma progression by modulating AP-1 signaling[8]. Disease associations with LINC02551 include hepatocellular carcinoma and potential links to schizophrenia, though the latter awaits confirmation[4][8]. There is currently no evidence categorizing LINC02551 as a traditional therapeutic target, such as a receptor or enzyme, nor are there documented drugs directly targeting it[7][8][9].
