Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2560 (LINC02560) is a human long non-coding RNA located on chromosome 19 (Ensembl: ENSG00000268307, HGNC:53600). LINC02560 does not code for a protein, but exerts regulatory effects on gene expression and epigenetic processes. Elevated expression of LINC02560 has been observed in hepatocellular carcinoma and other cancer types, where it is involved in pathways promoting cell proliferation, migration, invasion, apoptosis resistance, cancer metabolism, immune evasion, and chemoresistance. LINC02560 acts by interacting with proteins like the transcription factor GLI2, modulating their stability, activity, and expression, sometimes by affecting epigenetic marks on target genes. Its aberrant expression correlates with disease progression and prognosis, highlighting potential utility as a prognostic biomarker, though it is not a classical therapeutic target such as a receptor or enzyme.
Regulation of transcription factors (e.g., GLI2); Modulation of signaling pathways (e.g., PI3K/Akt/mTOR, MAPK/ERK); Epigenetic modification (e.g., DNA methylation, histone modification); Regulation of competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) networks.
