Overview

LINC02569, known as long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2569, is a nuclear long non-coding RNA transcribed from an enhancer region on chromosome 6. It has been found highly expressed in degenerated nucleus pulposus tissues of the intervertebral disc, and mechanistic studies implicate its role in promoting degeneration and cellular senescence via activation of the NF-κB signaling pathway. Silencing LINC02569 results in reduced inflammation and ECM degradation markers, highlighting its potential as a therapeutic target for intervertebral disc degeneration and related degenerative conditions. Limited disease association outside of IDD has been noted (e.g., glioma susceptibility). No drugs currently modulate this target directly, but siRNA-mediated knockdown demonstrates proof-of-concept therapeutic activity.
