Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2574 (LINC02574) is a long intergenic noncoding RNA (lincRNA), meaning it is a transcribed RNA molecule longer than 200 nucleotides that does not encode a protein and does not overlap with protein-coding gene loci[5]. LINC02574 is induced by infection with several viruses, including influenza A virus (IAV), and by interferon stimulation, through RIG-I/IFN/IFNAR signaling. In the context of IAV infection, it acts as a host antiviral factor: LINC02574 upregulates interferons (type I and III) and multiple ISGs, promotes activation of STAT1, and increases expression of viral RNA sensors such as RIG-I, TLR3, and MDA5, enhancing host innate immune responses and thereby inhibiting IAV replication[2][3][4]. However, in HIV-1 infection, LINC02574 (alias HEAL) has been shown to facilitate HIV replication by interacting with RNA-binding proteins and enhancing viral transcription, suggesting its functions can be virus- and context-dependent[3]. There are currently no approved drugs known to target or interact with LINC02574, and it is not established as a therapeutic target or clinical biomarker[1][2][3][4].
