Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2582 (LINC02582) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located on chromosome 18q22.3[7][9][1]. It does not encode a protein[2][3]. LINC02582 is involved in regulating the cellular response to DNA damage, particularly influencing the radioresistance of breast cancer cells[2][4]. Mechanistically, LINC02582 acts downstream of miR-200c, functioning as a direct target of this microRNA and forming a regulatory axis with checkpoint kinase 1 (CHK1)[2][4][5]. LINC02582 interacts with the deubiquitinating enzyme USP7 to promote CHK1 deubiquitination and stabilization, thereby enhancing radioresistance in cancer cells. Suppression of LINC02582 increases radiosensitivity, suggesting its role as a molecular determinant of therapeutic response in oncology[2][4][5][6]. Its expression levels are inversely correlated with miR-200c and positively correlated with CHK1 levels in breast cancer samples, supporting its relevance in clinical settings[2][4][5]. No therapeutic drugs directly target LINC02582 as of current knowledge, and it is not classified as a conventional drug target such as a receptor or enzyme[2][3][5].
