Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2601 (LINC02601) encodes a long intergenic non-coding RNA, a member of the lincRNA subclass of long non-coding RNAs. LincRNAs are autonomously transcribed RNA molecules longer than 200 nucleotides that do not overlap with annotated protein-coding genes. Their broad functions include regulating chromatin architecture, modulating gene expression, and sometimes acting as enhancers or modulators of cellular pathways. The majority of lincRNAs, including LINC02601, remain poorly characterized and their specific biological activities are largely unknown. Although the lincRNA family as a whole is increasingly recognized as important in fundamental cellular processes and disease contexts, most individual members—including LINC02601—are not currently considered therapeutic targets, biomarkers, or associated with known drug interactions.
