Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2604 (LINC02604), also known as lncHERG, is a long non-coding RNA associated with various cancers, most notably glioblastoma and colorectal cancer. It has been found to be highly expressed in these malignancies and acts as a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA), likely through sponging tumor suppressor microRNAs such as miR-940 and others, leading to the derepression of oncogenic mRNA targets. LINC02604 is involved in the regulation of cell proliferation, apoptosis, and metastasis. Increased expression correlates with poor prognosis, aggressive disease features, and higher patient mortality. Its strong diagnostic utility has been demonstrated for colorectal cancer, with very high sensitivities and specificities in published biomarker studies. In glioblastoma, it is being studied as both a diagnostic and prognostic biomarker, though direct drug interactions are currently unknown[1][4].
