Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2613 (LINC02613) is a long non-coding RNA transcribed from the 2p22.1 region of the human genome. It is not translated into protein but regulates gene expression, notably through pathways influencing the cell cycle, DNA replication, and metabolic reprogramming. LINC02613 acts as a scaffold and epigenetic regulator, with emerging evidence linking its downregulation to poor prognosis in breast cancer and low expression seen in many tumor types. It modulates antitumor immunity, showing positive correlation with immune cell infiltration (CD8+ T cells, macrophages, dendritic cells, regulatory T cells). Its suppression appears to activate Wnt signaling (through increased Wnt2/Wnt3), promoting cell proliferation and glycolysis typical of cancer cells. As of now, LINC02613 is used mainly as a prognostic biomarker and is not a direct target for any approved or experimental drugs, nor is there evidence of safety concerns related to its modulation.
