Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2664 (LINC02664) is a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) family, a large class of RNAs longer than 200 nucleotides that do not overlap protein-coding genes and generally are not translated into protein[1][5]. LincRNAs, including LINC02664, are transcribed by RNA Polymerase II, sometimes with mRNA-like processing, though generally less efficiently. LincRNAs can have important biological roles, including the regulation of neighboring genes, chromatin modification, transcription regulation, and fine-tuning of gene expression within specific tissues or developmental stages[1][3][5]. While many lincRNAs have as yet uncharacterized or context-dependent functions, specific variants of LINC02664 have been identified as potential genetic markers for predisposition to certain diseases, including cancer[2]. There are currently no known drug interactions or mechanisms of action involving LINC02664, and it is not established as a direct therapeutic target.
