Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2669 (LINC02669) is a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNAs (lincRNAs), which are RNA transcripts longer than 200 nucleotides that do not overlap annotated protein-coding genes[3]. LincRNAs and other lncRNAs play diverse roles in regulating gene expression, including modulation of nearby gene activity, chromatin remodeling, enhancer-associated activity, and mRNA processing. Recent genomic analyses have shown that lincRNAs, although not coding for proteins, can impact important biological processes such as transcriptional regulation and may be involved in pathological mechanisms such as those found in cancer[3][5].
