Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2835 (LINC02835), also known as lncMER52A, is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) of more than 200 nucleotides, specifically identified as an oncogenic RNA in liver cancer. It is transcribed from a MER52A LTR retrotransposon of the ERV1 class, and functions independently of protein coding, primarily through regulatory interactions with chromatin, transcriptional machinery, and potentially as a molecular scaffold or guide for protein complexes involved in gene expression regulation. LncRNAs like LINC02835 are notable for their diverse mechanisms that include both cis and trans regulatory effects, context-specific functions, and roles in disease, particularly as cancer drivers or suppressors. The functional and structural plasticity of lncRNAs, sequence diversity, and frequent lack of sequence conservation complicate both biological understanding and therapeutic targeting. As of now, there are no approved drugs or clinical biomarkers directly associated with LINC02835.
