Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2864 (LINC02864) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene, also known by the alias RP11-169F17.1. It does not encode a protein but acts at the RNA level to regulate cellular functions. LINC02864 is differentially expressed in several cancers, most notably high-grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC), where it is downregulated in the \"differentiated\" subtype and upregulated in the \"immunoreactive\" subtype, suggesting a role in immune regulation and cancer biology[2]. It is also described in head and neck cancer and gastric cancer, potentially interacting with multiple microRNAs (for example, miR-3155a, miR-3678-3p, miR-875-3p, among others), but the direct molecular mechanism is not well characterized[2]. There is no evidence that LINC02864 encodes a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or is a direct therapeutic target, nor are there drugs known to modulate its function. Its significant differential expression in cancer subtypes may make it a candidate for further biomarker development.
