Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2868 (LINC02868), also known as C1orf137, is a member of the lincRNA family, which are non-coding RNAs transcribed from regions between protein-coding genes and are longer than 200 nucleotides. LincRNAs, including LINC02868, do not encode proteins but can regulate the expression of neighboring or distant genes through various mechanisms, such as scaffolding proteins for chromatin modification, modulating transcription, or stabilizing target mRNAs.
