Overview

LINC02875 (Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 2875) is a long non-coding RNA transcript in humans. It does not encode a protein and is located in non-protein-coding regions separated from neighboring genes[7]. LINC02875 is transcriptionally upregulated in various cancers, notably hepatocellular carcinoma and glioma, and is linked to unfavorable clinical outcomes, including enhanced cell proliferation, migration, and invasion[2][4][6][8]. Mechanistically, LINC02875 acts—at least in part—by regulating downstream microRNAs (such as miR-485–5p), thereby influencing cancer cell behavior[2][4]. It is considered a potential therapeutic target and a prognostic biomarker in cancer contexts, especially HBV-associated hepatocellular carcinoma[4][8]. As a lincRNA, it falls into the category of non-coding RNAs that regulate gene expression and cell functions, without functioning as a traditional receptor, enzyme, or transporter[1][3][7]. No FDA-approved drugs currently directly target LINC02875, but silencing approaches such as RNA interference seem promising in preclinical research[2][6].
