Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 3047 (LINC03047) is a human long non-coding RNA with emerging importance in the regulation of cell death, especially ferroptosis, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) within lung epithelial cells. Its expression is induced by the RELA (NF-κB p65) transcription factor and has been shown to promote ferroptosis through upregulation of SLC39A14, a ferrous iron transporter. Such activity makes it relevant to disease mechanisms in silicosis and potentially in cancer, where EMT and ferroptosis are central to disease pathogenesis and therapy resistance. LINC03047 is under active investigation as a novel therapeutic target for fibrotic lung diseases and cancer due to its unique regulatory roles.
Not established for drugs, but research indicates LINC03047 upregulates the ferrous iron transporter SLC39A14 and promotes ferroptosis by modulating cellular iron homeostasis in lung cells
