Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 314 (LINC00314) is a human long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) that does not encode a protein but regulates gene expression at the transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels. LINC00314 is significantly upregulated during the osteogenic differentiation of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs), where it acts as a competing endogenous RNA ("miRNA sponge") for miR-129-5p, thus relieving suppression on the receptor gene GRM5. This LINC00314/miR-129-5p/GRM5 regulatory axis promotes osteogenic differentiation by activating Wnt/β-catenin signaling. As such, LINC00314 may be relevant for osteoporosis and bone regeneration, potentially serving as a biomarker for osteogenic capacity but is not considered a classical therapeutic target like a receptor or enzyme. There are currently no known drugs that directly target LINC00314.
