Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 426 (LINC00426) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene found in the human genome at locus 13q12.3 on the DNA antisense strand. It spans 38,105 bases and does not encode a protein. LINC00426 has been shown to be ectopically expressed in a variety of human cancers, including lung adenocarcinoma and breast cancer. In lung adenocarcinoma, it promotes tumor cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and metastasis, operating as a ceRNA that sponges miR-455-5p and modulates UBE2V1 expression, influencing pathways associated with cytoskeleton rearrangement and EMT. In breast cancer, its expression correlates with immune cell infiltration and prognostic outcomes, serving as an immune phenotype marker. It is being investigated as a potential biomarker for diagnostics and prognostics in several tumor types but is not yet a classic therapeutic target. There are currently no approved drugs directly modulating LINC00426, and therapeutic approaches targeting it would face RNA delivery and specificity challenges.
Null LINC00426 is not itself a drug target. Its function relates to regulatory effect on other genes/microRNAs (e.g., via sponging miR-455-5p)
