Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 471 (LINC00471) is a long non-coding RNA transcript that does not encode a protein and is located between protein-coding genes on chromosome 2. It is part of the lincRNA subclass of lncRNAs, defined by their lack of overlap with protein-coding loci. LINC00471’s biological functions are not fully characterized, consistent with many lncRNAs for which specific cellular or disease roles remain unclear. In general, lincRNAs can act in chromatin remodeling, regulation of transcription, and modulation of gene expression, often displaying tissue-specific expression profiles. The gene is well annotated and included in major genome databases.
