Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 513 (LINC00513) is a human long non-coding RNA gene that does not encode a protein, but instead exerts regulatory effects on gene expression at the RNA level. Notably, LINC00513 has been identified as a novel regulator of the type 1 interferon signaling pathway. Genetic polymorphisms in its promoter region (notably rs205764 and rs547311) are associated with altered LINC00513 expression, which in turn influences IFN pathway activity. These variants have shown associations with both increased risk of autoimmune diseases such as SLE and with differing responses and disability outcomes to disease-modifying therapies (fingolimod and dimethyl fumarate) in multiple sclerosis. LINC00513 is considered a lncRNA with roles in gene expression regulation and immune response, but is not currently classified as a typical therapeutic target like a receptor or enzyme.
