Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 519 (LINC00519) is a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) family, a class of long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) that are transcribed from genomic regions not overlapping with protein-coding genes. LINC00519 is primarily localized in the cytoplasm, where it functions as a molecular sponge for several microRNAs, including miR-876-3p, miR-450b-5p, and miR-515-5p, modulating the expression of oncogenes such as MACC1 and YAP1. Overexpression of LINC00519 promotes tumor cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and inhibits apoptosis in cancers such as lung squamous cell carcinoma and tongue squamous cell carcinoma. Its high expression level has been associated with poor prognosis, suggesting its utility as a prognostic biomarker in these cancers[1][2][4]. There are no approved drugs known to directly target LINC00519, and it is not considered a traditional therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter.
