Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 52 (LINC00052) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) greater than 200 nucleotides in length that does not encode protein. It is involved in the regulation of several physiological and pathological processes primarily through effects on gene expression at the transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels. LINC00052 has been shown to exert important roles in the tumorigenesis, progression, and metastasis of multiple cancers, such as hepatocellular carcinoma, breast cancer, and colorectal cancer, largely by regulating the activity of key genes and pathways (e.g., HER3, STAT3, Wnt/β-catenin, NTRK3, miRNA networks). It is typically regarded as a regulatory molecule rather than a classical therapeutic target like receptors, enzymes, or ion channels, but its altered expression and regulatory roles may make it a potential biomarker and an emerging indirect target for cancer therapy.
