Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 525 (LINC00525) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) greater than 200 nucleotides in length, implicated in the regulation of gene expression and cancer progression. LINC00525 is upregulated in multiple human malignancies including chordoma, bladder cancer, non-small cell lung cancer, colorectal cancer, and glioma. It functions, at least in part, by acting as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) for specific microRNAs such as microRNA-505-3p, thereby regulating downstream targets like HMGB1. In bladder cancer, LINC00525 has been shown to directly interact with and stabilize the YAP protein, enhancing its nuclear localization and oncogenic transcriptional activity. High expression of LINC00525 is associated with increased proliferation, migration, and invasion in tumor cells and with poorer prognosis. Current studies suggest that LINC00525 and its molecular pathways could represent potential therapeutic targets for cancer treatment, though there are no approved drugs or direct targeting agents as of yet.
Acts as a molecular sponge for microRNA-505-3p, modulating HMGB1 expression; Directly interacts with and stabilizes YAP by inhibiting its phosphorylation and ubiquitin-mediated degradation, leading to increased nuclear localization and transcriptional activity of YAP
