Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 571 (LINC00571) is a long intergenic non-coding RNA, primarily localized in the nucleus, and composed of 6 exons[2]. It is upregulated in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), where it acts as a scaffold to facilitate protein–protein interactions between HNRNPK and ILF2, leading to enhanced ILF2 stability and subsequent activation of downstream genes such as IDH2, a regulator of the TCA cycle[2]. LINC00571 promotes cancer cell proliferation, modulates the cell cycle, inhibits apoptosis, and drives metabolic reprogramming of tumor cells[2][4]. Its aberrant expression is associated with poor prognosis in TNBC, lymphatic and distant metastasis, high Ki-67, and tumor differentiation, highlighting its value as a biomarker and potential indirect therapeutic target[2]. Direct targeting approaches, however, are not in clinical use.
