Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 588 (LINC00588) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene, which does not encode a protein but may play regulatory roles in gene expression[1][3][7]. Alternative names include C8orf71 and DKFZP434F122. LINC00588 has been identified as differentially expressed in several cancer studies and is being investigated as a potential non-invasive biomarker for the diagnosis of lung cancer and as a tumor suppressor in osteosaroma, where it is proposed to act as a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) regulating microRNA activity[2][5]. However, there are currently no direct therapeutic drugs targeting LINC00588 and its mechanistic details remain under-characterized in the scientific literature.
