Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 596 (LINC00596) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) gene located on chromosome 14 (14q11.2) and produces non-coding transcripts of approximately 900–940 base pairs[3][5][13]. It is also known by the synonyms C14orf165 and CNSLT1I7G[1][3][5][9][11][13]. LINC00596 is annotated as an intergenic RNA gene and does not encode a protein[3][5][13]. Its function is currently uncharacterized in detail, but lincRNAs as a group can regulate gene expression, typically by interacting with chromatin or transcriptional machinery, and are being investigated as potential regulators in various diseases, especially cancers[15]. There is presently no evidence or literature establishing LINC00596 as a direct therapeutic target or as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or classical signaling molecule[1][3][5][7][9][11][13]. No drugs are known to specifically interact with LINC00596, and there are no recognized mechanisms of action, biomarkers, or safety concerns particular to this lncRNA.

Biological functions

Other: Detailed specific biological functions for LINC00596 are currently uncharacterized; generally, lincRNAs may play roles in chromatin modification, gene regulation, and cellular homeostasis.
03

Disease associations

Other: Some association with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia has been noted, but no clear, consistent disease causality or biomarker function is established for LINC00596 itself.
