Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 622 (LINC00622) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), more specifically, a long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA), which is transcribed from a genomic locus that does not overlap annotated protein-coding genes. LINC00622, like other lincRNAs, does not code for a protein but participates in the regulation of gene expression at the transcriptional and post-transcriptional level, often through modulation of chromatin structure, enhancer activity, and other regulatory mechanisms. Functional studies indicate roles for LINC00622 in regulating autophagic cell death and gene networks involved in proliferation and survival, with potential involvement in cancer biology by promoting or repressing tumorigenic pathways. As with most lincRNAs, LINC00622 is not considered a classic therapeutic target (such as a receptor or enzyme) and currently has no known direct interacting drugs or established mechanism-of-action for pharmacological modulation. Its principal importance lies in its function as a gene expression regulator and possible implication in human diseases, especially cancer, but it is not yet established as a biomarker or therapeutic target in clinical settings.
