Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 652 (LINC00652) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located in intergenic regions that does not code for protein. It is predominantly localized in the cytoplasm, where it is proposed to act as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA), regulating gene expression by binding multiple microRNAs. This lncRNA has been studied primarily in the context of acute lymphoblastic leukemia, where decreased levels are observed in patient samples and it may play a protective role, potentially influencing disease pathogenesis by modulating immune cell infiltration and several signaling pathways, including JAK/STAT and IL2-STAT5. No drugs are currently known to target LINC00652, and its utility as a therapeutic target has not been established[2]. Its aliases include HSPC072. No notable safety concerns or direct therapeutic interventions have been documented.
Acts through ceRNA mechanism: sponges specific microRNAs, thereby derepressing target mRNAs involved in signaling pathways such as JAK/STAT, IL2-STAT5, apoptosis, and adipogenesis
