Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 664 (LINC00664) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located on chromosome 19 that does not encode a protein but regulates gene expression through various mechanisms, especially as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) in different pathological contexts[1][2][5][7]. LINC00664 promotes oncogenic processes such as cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT) in several cancers including oral squamous cell carcinoma, where it acts by engaging in a feedback loop with the transcription factor KLF9 and sponging miR-411-5p[1][2]. LINC00664's expression is also linked to negative prognosis in ovarian and colorectal cancer, as part of prognostic lncRNA signatures[1]. In cardiovascular disease, particularly after acute myocardial infarction, LINC00664 has been implicated as a potential biomarker for fibrotic cardiac remodeling by participating in ceRNA networks with miR-197-3p and JAK2[1]. These diverse regulatory roles and disease correlations indicate its potential as both a biomarker and a candidate therapeutic target, though it is not a receptor, enzyme, or other classical drug target class[1][2][3][7].
