Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 667 (LINC00667) is a long noncoding RNA located on chromosome 18p11.31 that does not code for proteins but is increasingly recognized for its regulatory roles in cancer. LINC00667 acts as an oncogenic lincRNA, promoting cell proliferation, migration, and invasion in multiple cancers, such as oral squamous cell carcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, and other tumor types. Its functions are mediated through mechanisms including sponging of microRNAs (notably acting as a molecular sponge for miR-130a-3p in hepatocellular carcinoma), regulation of androgen receptor expression, and broader modulation of tumorigenic pathways at the transcriptional and post-transcriptional levels. Elevated expression of LINC00667 is associated with poor prognosis, aggressive tumor features, and metastasis, supporting its potential as a biomarker and a therapeutic target in oncology[1][3]. No direct drug interactions, safety challenges, or specific mechanisms of action for pharmacological targeting have been established to date.
