Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 682 (LINC00682) is a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA), defined as a transcript longer than 200 nucleotides that does not encode a protein[1][5][7]. It is classified as an intergenic lncRNA and is located on chromosome 4 (41,872,738-41,882,955, reverse strand)[5][7]. LINC00682 functions mainly as a tumor suppressor in gastric cancer; it inhibits the progression of gastric cancer by regulating the microRNA-9 (miR-9) and LIM homeobox transcription factor 1 alpha (LMX1A) signaling axis, leading to decreased cell proliferation, migration, and invasion[2][3][4][9]. LINC00682 acts as a molecular sponge for miR-9, thereby reducing miR-9's inhibition of LMX1A, which is a known tumor suppressor[2][3][9]. Increased LINC00682 expression is associated with reduced gastric cancer cell aggressiveness and may serve as a potential biomarker for gastric cancer diagnosis or prognosis[3][9]. There are currently no known drugs that directly target LINC00682, and its role is primarily as a regulatory RNA rather than a therapeutic target in the conventional sense of druggable proteins or receptors[3][9].
