Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 694 (LINC00694, C3orf86P, C3orf86) is a member of the long intergenic non-coding RNA (lincRNA) family. LincRNAs are typically characterized as autonomously transcribed RNA molecules longer than 200 nucleotides that do not overlap any coding genes[3]. Their functions are diverse: they can regulate gene transcription, remodel chromatin and nuclear architecture, stabilize RNAs, and act as scaffolds for protein complexes[3][4]. Some lincRNAs can modulate the activity of RNA binding proteins or chromatin-modifying complexes, but there is currently no evidence that LINC00694 (C3orf86P) itself encodes a functional protein or serves as a direct therapeutic target[2][3].
