Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 841 (LINC00841) is a member of the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) class, meaning it is a RNA transcript longer than 200 nucleotides that does not encode a protein[1][5]. In colorectal cancer (CRC), LINC00841 (also referred to by its alternative symbol linc01184 in some studies due to past nomenclature ambiguities) is upregulated and has been shown to promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion by sponging (sequestering) microRNA-331 (miR-331), which leads to increased expression of HER2 and activation of downstream oncogenic pathways (such as Akt/ERK1/2 signaling)[3]. Evidence currently centers on its oncogenic role in CRC, but there is limited information on its broader physiological functions or its validation as a therapeutic target in other disease contexts. There are no known drugs directly targeting LINC00841 as of the most recent literature, and it is not recognized as a conventional therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter[1][5][3].
