Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 847 (LINC00847) is a long non-coding RNA highly expressed in several human cancers, including laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma, pancreatic adenocarcinoma, and non-small cell lung cancer. LINC00847 is primarily localized in the cytoplasm of tumor cells and promotes cancer progression by enhancing proliferation, migration, invasion, and cell cycle progression through sponging specific microRNAs (such as miR-181a-5p and miR-455-3p). As a result, LINC00847 indirectly upregulates oncogenic proteins like ZEB2 and HDAC4, contributing to malignant behavior. High levels of LINC00847 in tumors correlate with poor outcome and may serve as a diagnostic and prognostic marker. Currently, there are no approved therapies directly targeting LINC00847, but its cancer-specific functions make it a promising target for future RNA-based therapeutic approaches.
