Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 857 (LINC00857) is a cytoplasmic long non-coding RNA implicated in the promotion of cancer cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and resistance to apoptosis, by acting as an oncogene in colorectal and other cancers. Its mechanism involves interaction with the RNA-binding protein YTHDC1, leading to stabilization of SLC7A5 mRNA and thus facilitating tumorigenic processes such as epithelial-mesenchymal transition and metabolic reprogramming. LINC00857 is upregulated in malignancies and associated with worse tumor characteristics, suggesting its potential utility as a target for therapeutic intervention and a biomarker for disease prognosis.
