Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 885 (LINC00885) is a long non-coding RNA found in humans, encoded by three exons on chromosome 3q29. It is significantly upregulated in various cancers, including breast ductal carcinoma in situ, triple-negative breast cancer, cervical carcinoma, and colorectal cancer. Functionally, LINC00885 acts as an oncogenic factor: it promotes cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and is associated with poor patient prognosis. Mechanistically, LINC00885 operates as a competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA), sponging microRNAs such as miR-654-3p, which leads to enhanced expression of pro-tumorigenic genes (e.g., NCK1, EREG, EGFR, MYC, CCND1). In breast and other cancers, high levels of LINC00885 upregulate oncogenic signaling pathways (including TP53, EGFR, FOXM1), facilitating cancer progression and metastasis. Its role as a ceRNA and as a regulator of cell cycle and migration underlies its potential as a biomarker and candidate therapeutic target for aggressive cancers[1][2][3].
Not directly targeted by drugs yet; acts as ceRNA modulating activity of microRNAs (especially miR-654-3p), upregulates oncogenic pathways (e.g., NCK1, EGFR) by sponging tumor suppressive miRNAs[3][1][2]
