Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 92 (LINC00092) is a long non-coding RNA located on chromosome 9q22.32 that is implicated as a context-dependent regulator of oncogenesis, metastasis, and cellular metabolism. LINC00092 exerts diverse functions, acting as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) that sponges microRNAs (notably miR-1827), thereby modulating target gene expression such as SFRP1 and relevant pathways including Wnt signaling in breast invasive ductal carcinoma. It is downregulated in breast, lung, and other cancers, with low expression correlating with poor prognosis. In ovarian cancer, LINC00092 drives interactions between tumor cells and cancer-associated fibroblasts, promoting metastatic progression. Changes in LINC00092 expression are potential biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis, and may offer new therapeutic opportunities, though direct drug targeting of LINC00092 is presently experimental.
Targeted therapies aim to silence the gene using siRNA or antisense oligonucleotides to reduce LINC00092 levels. Another strategy involves inhibiting specific miRNAs to interfere with LINC00092-miRNA interactions, particularly the miR-1827/SFRP1 axis. Experimental modulation of metabolic and signaling pathways downstream of LINC00092 is also being explored.
