Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 921 (LINC00921) is a human long noncoding RNA (lncRNA), encoded at chromosome 16, which does not code for a protein product but has been shown to play key regulatory roles in gene expression at the post-transcriptional level[1][3][5][7]. LINC00921 has been identified as lower expressed in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) tumor tissue compared to normal tissue, and low expression predicts poorer survival, suggesting a tumor suppressor-like function in this context[2][4]. It is involved in processes such as regulation of gene transcription, modulation of tumorigenesis, and influence over immune cell infiltration in the tumor microenvironment[2]. Enrichment and correlation analyses suggest its function partially involves the regulation of transcription factors such as SATB1 and microRNAs like hsa-miR-449a[2]. LINC00921 also shows prognostic utility as a biomarker in both LUAD and, according to other studies, in triple-negative breast cancer and in distinguishing malignant from benign biliary diseases[2][4]. There are no current reports of direct drug interactions, and it is not a receptor, enzyme, or classical drug target[3][5].
