Overview

Long intergenic non-protein coding RNA 941 (LINC00941) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) located at chromosome 12p11.21[1]. It is also referred to as lncRNA-MUF, MSC upregulated factor, and several other aliases. LINC00941 is implicated in the regulation of cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and extracellular matrix organization, primarily through gene expression and co-expression module networks in various cancers, including gastric cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, and lung adenocarcinoma[1]. Experimental studies show that LINC00941 silencing inhibits cancer cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, with in vivo evidence for its role in tumor growth and metastasis[1]. LINC00941 also serves as a repressor of keratinocyte differentiation, thereby playing a key role in epidermal tissue homeostasis and preventing premature differentiation in the skin[2]. While it is emerging as a potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarker in certain cancers, no direct drugs or targeted therapeutics are documented for LINC00941 to date, and it is not classified as a traditional druggable therapeutic target such as a receptor or enzyme[1][2].
