Target intelligence / Profile preview
Long non-coding RNA BC032469 (TERLR1, CTD-3080P12.3) is a long non-coding RNA highly expressed in several cancers, including gastric cancer and esophageal squamous cell carcinoma[1][2][7]. Functionally, BC032469 acts as a competing endogenous RNA by binding and sequestering microRNA miR-1207-5p, which allows for increased expression of human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT), a key protein in telomere maintenance and cell immortalization[1][7]. Overexpression of this lncRNA is associated with tumor aggressiveness, larger tumor size, poor differentiation, lymph node metastasis, advanced tumor stage, and poor clinical outcomes[1][2]. Experimental silencing of BC032469 suppresses cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, induces cell cycle arrest, and promotes apoptosis in cancer cell models[2]. Clinical studies suggest that BC032469 can serve as a biomarker for poor prognosis in gastric and esophageal cancers[1][2][7]. To date, no directly interacting drugs or clinical agents are reported, and the lncRNA is not commonly considered a direct therapeutic target. Its mechanistic and disease associations are primarily through its regulatory effects on hTERT, a well-known driver of oncogenesis.
