Overview

FLJ16779 (uncharacterized LOC100192386) is a human long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) whose molecular function remains largely uncharacterized. It has been identified in studies of gastric cancer as part of a three-lncRNA signature associated with prognosis. Increased expression of FLJ16779 correlates with tumorigenesis and progression in gastric cancer, likely by influencing cancer-associated pathways such as Hedgehog signaling, calcium signaling, and energy metabolism. Despite its significance as a prognostic marker, FLJ16779 is neither a therapeutic target (receptor, enzyme, transporter, etc.) nor a well-characterized functional RNA, and there is scant direct evidence for molecular mechanisms or interactions with drugs. There is little information about its function in normal physiology or other diseases, and the gene/protein remains uncharacterized in most public databases[1][2][5][6].
